Easement
The preservation easement donation process begins with submitting
a completed 2-page Preservation Easement Application (Adobe
Acrobat - Download -
MS Word) to Preservation Easement Trust, a qualified
501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization.
Please mail or fax the completed 2-page application to Preservation
Easement Trust who typically responds within 24 hours. Photographs of the property can be sent via e-mail to photos@preservationeasement.org.

Upon the conveyance of a preservation easement, the donor also makes a
suggested one-time tax-deductible charitable contribution to the Preservation Easement
Trust’s endowment fund, equivalent to 3% of the appraised easement value or
$15,000 per property, whichever is greater. Preservation Easement Trust maintains
this endowment fund to pay for operations and the ongoing costs of administering, monitoring,
and enforcing its preservation easements.
Before proceeding with a preservation easement donation, potential
donors are always advised to consult with their attorneys and tax
professionals in order to understand the specific legal requirements and tax
consequences associated with conveying a preservation easement and
receiving a tax deduction.
